Hotline Staff
The hotline staff includes attorneys, paralegals, law students and volunteers. Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole speaking staff are available to clients during hotline hours. All hotline staff work under the direct guidance of a LARC supervising attorney.
Volunteering at LARC
Opportunities for Attorneys
LARC has two types of pro bono opportunities for attorneys:
- Attorneys can join our "employment law helpline" panel. LARC hotline staff screen callers and refer low-income clients with employment-related questions to a panel of volunteer attorneys. Panel attorneys agree to provide clients with a brief telephone consultation on a scheduled day and time each month.
- Attorneys can also volunteer to take hotline calls at LARC on a day and time of their choosing.
Opportunities for Students
Law and upper-level undergraduate students can gain valuable public interest law experience as part of the LARC social security benefit or bankruptcy projects. Volunteers will be trained to counsel clients who have social security benefit or consumer questions. Volunteers should be prepared to make a commitment of 8-10 hours/week for one semester.
